A long-time book editor, Parisa Ebrahimi has been transforming manuscripts for over seventeen years. Formerly at Chatto & Windus in London, where she edited fiction, nonfiction, and award-winning poetry, she's now Executive Editor at Hogarth Books in New York, where her authors include the winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature Han Kang, Anuk Arudpragasam, Sarah Manguso, Heidi Julavits, Lillian Fishman and Khashayar Khabushani, among many others. The books and writers that most inspire her are, in Sarah Manguso's words, "by people who are acutely aware that death is coming and that abiding love is our last resort." Originally from London (by way of Iran), she lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
Below, a few special things she’s coveting right now, from a T.S. Eliot first edition to the perfect men's wear inspired pajamas.
A Beautiful Lamp
"I love the honest simplicity of this oak bobbin lamp, hand-turned in Sussex, England. It feels like something new inspired by something old – and with an accompanying wavy lampshade from Munro and Kerr, it’s just perfect."
Alfred Newall Lamp, $255
A Delicate Bracelet
“So dainty and unobtrusive. Part of the fun is trying on all the different colours, and I settled for khaki (to my surprise) in the end.”
Gigi Clozeau Bracelet, $210
A First Edition
"Eliot’s Four Quartets holds all the answers. It’s impossible to pinpoint a favourite line: it changes every time you read it, at various stages in your life. This American first edition from Peter Harrington in London would be a welcome addition to any bookshelf. "
'Four Quartets' by T.S. Eliot, $4,688
The Perfect Bag
“I brought the Brea Bag to Stockholm for the Nobel reception and it was the savior of the week. I wore it to every event. It is truly the most perfect bag that goes with everything.”
The Brea Bag in Velvet, $395
Classic Pajamas
"The way to my heart is through a pair of classic cut, men's wear inspired pajamas, and this pair from Honna is the best.”
